Missing Reaction: Global Media Bazaar

This chapter focuses on the corporations that dominate the media sector. This chapter aims to highlight why these corporations have such huge impact on media as well as their characteristics. The examples of the huge corporations in the media industry are: Sony, Walt Disney, Time, Viacom… They are all specialized in one field thanks to the used technology that enabled them to offer many assistances.
These corporations put a huge emphasize on the telecommunication networks that allow them to transmit the information with the easiest and the fastest way (radio, internet, telephone…) with providing us some example of such corporations: Disney, AOL, Sony etc.
In addition to that, this evolution of technology and innovations played a major role in how people have access to the information through the easiest way. Nowadays, people can access to the information a very fast way by using smartphones, computers, telephone etc. and privilege such ways to getting the information through books, face to face communication etc.
This shift toward the global communication field enabled many corporations to exhaust the means of their company and to advertise them in addition to specialize them in term of quality and diversity through convergence. This aspect allowed such company to travel through countries while developing themselves and increasing the quality of their specialization with the help of technologies, capitalism and globalization.

We can say that this have good outcomes since the word is more connected, where all people can learn and get the information needed with providing information back while the short comes of such technologies encourage the disappearance of the books and old materials that are also fundamental to the communication field. In addition to that, I think that such corporation tend to deliver the same services, but distinguish themselves by giving the more information and the easiest services. However, I think that there are many corporations which have a lot of potential and which are lagged behind due to the fact that they don’t have the same access to the means as the most advanced ones.

Discontents of cultural globalization

Even though Western cultural globalization has allowed major and important developments all around the world, it also had create discontent in countries, specifically Islamic ones. In fact, many countries such as China or Iran, want to restrict the Western reception of television through licensing regimes judging the content inappropriate due to sexual content or to how the women is represented in the media. For example, in Asia, the Western culture displayed through television is seen as undermining traditional values as for China, the Disney movie Mulan was delayed because the government didn’t like or appreciate the portrayal of the Chinese culture made in the movie. Instead of preferring Western cultural content, India and China choose to reinforce their own culture and values through TV. Indeed, in India, two TV shows based on Hindu epics, named Ramayan and Mahabharat, had a great impact on the society and a huge success in the county which resulted in the production of more rel...

The advent of popular media

The enlargement of printing press and the globalization of new agencies had a huge impact on the worldwide newspaper agency. By 1890, Europe has seen a quick expansion of the popular press and an increase in readership, especially in France and Britain.             Newspapers were also used in order to highlight the nationalist side within countries.
